This cartoon is pointing at the DNA “code” that is embedded in everybody. Since there are only four parts to this “code”, Adenine, Cytosine, Thymine, and Guanine, the code seems like it would be simple. However, since there are so many places for each one, there are an infinite number of combinations. This is why “everybody is special”.
Athletes Are Actually Destroying Fast Twitch Muscle Fibers
Fast twitch muscle fibers are argued to be actually destroyed by plyometrics in most cases. This statement is debated in the sport and health community, but I believe that it is true that in most cases the person or athlete exercising is actually guilty of destroying their fast twitch fibers instead of strengthening them. Fast twitch fibers are responsible for the speed of muscle contraction, and train muscles to contract to one certain point in a short period of time. This is in contrast to slow twitch fibers that contract slowly, and therefore memorize how to contract to a much larger number of points. While most athletes attempt to develop fast twitch fibers with plyometrics, they are still guilty of performing fundamental errors in their exercise that actually destroys fast twitch fibers.
For instance, when performing plyometrics, the exercise must be repeated to exactly the same point every time (or as close as you can get to it). When an exercise is performed which requires the muscle to contract as far as it can go (as is the case in weight-lifting), the slow twitch fibers are being developed. The point is to perform the exercise to develop muscle memory for one specific spot on the muscle. The more times the muscle is contracted to that point, the more it will memorize it, and will get faster.
